We still tell the story, though nobody believes us. We had to turn down an invitation and a lovely chat about the town’s curious stories because we were rushing back before midnight, afraid we’d end up out on the street like Cinderella without our shoes. I’d never had a curfew, not even when I was 18, and this one still stings. Spending a whole weekend in magical Maderuelo and making the most of those 48 hours is priceless. Staying at one of its best hotels, though, comes at a price. A requirement like that is quite “exceptional” for somewhere you’re meant to feel at home. They should make sure guests know about it from the start, in capital letters.

The music alone was a rare treat: Gary Burton with Julián Lage, José James, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, all sounding unbeatable. The person running this place is a genius at bringing everything together. It’s an exquisite space, with lovely harmony and decor, a privileged setting, and impeccable service. I almost hesitated to say so, since all these positive reviews might bring a flood of bookings, make it harder to get in, and cost me a future reservation 😊. Still, I have to be honest about my experience. My best recommendations and wishes for the future.

We only stayed one night in this lovely town, but we’d happily come back to this hotel. It’s a 3-star place, yet everything felt above par. The staff were unbeatable, always attentive and happy to share tips for enjoying the area. Our room was very spacious and spotlessly clean, and breakfast was delicious and lovingly prepared.

I’m giving them a 1 only because I can’t give less. They canceled our anniversary stay just 24 hours beforehand, saying we both had the flu. So what? I wasn’t planning to sleep in their bed or eat off their plate. They should have been honest and said it wasn’t profitable to keep the hotel open for two guests, which is surely why they canceled. Doing this with only 24 hours’ notice is absolutely unacceptable. I’m adding this because what happened is shameful. After reading my review, which they clearly refuse to accept and which says plenty about their poor manners, they had the nerve to message my wife and tell her they found it “unbelievable.” If three rooms were canceled that day, how did they know I was her husband? This establishment’s behavior is outrageous. I hope they recover soon, if they haven’t already. They certainly seem to have the time and health to berate customers and disrespect them in reviews.
