Ah - Alfred Hostel

One of the few traditional lockers around Atocha. I trust a place run by people rather than machines. They handle everything by hand, take cash, and don't require a smartphone. Thank you!

I stayed two nights. The room and bed were basic but acceptable, though getting to the shower means walking to a different floor. The kitchen is on another floor too, and has only a microwave, no stove. The toilets are very minimal, without a table or chair to put clothes or toiletries on while showering. Towels cost extra. Luggage storage is poor and only available until 3pm. You're better off using the storage at Atocha train station. I don't recommend it.

We arrived late after being told that was okay, and they gave us a four-digit code for the front door. It didn't work. We called and rang the bell several times, but nobody answered. The three of us had to spend the night outside in Madrid because we couldn't find another hostel or hotel by then. Worst hostel ever.

Right by Atocha station, which was exactly what I needed, so it was convenient. The room was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the staff were sweet and helpful at check-in. It's a decent budget place to sleep around the station and Atocha area. The lockers aren't very sturdy, and the toilets are on a different floor, which is inconvenient if you need to get up during the night.
