The portions are huge, especially the pancakes, and there’s no mention of that anywhere. The food leans more “American” style. It’s fine, not the best, but not bad either. Service was good and the atmosphere was fine. Easy place to go, and it works well for big groups of 10+ people. I really appreciated the great service!

The warm atmosphere makes up for the New York cheesecake, which I didn’t love. It was a bit crumbly and had no crust. La Desayuneria in Chueca is a cozy spot for American-style breakfast, with U.S.-themed decor and a Christmas tree that stays up all year. There are lots of gluten-free choices, pancakes included, and it’s very child-friendly. Every table has coloring pages and pencils to keep kids busy. I’d come back to try some of the other dishes.

That Strawberry Caramel Milkshake was the one letdown. The toppings were tasty, but the drink itself was watery and barely had any flavor. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you like smoothies that taste and feel like water. Everything else made for a great visit. We had no reservation and waited only about five minutes for a table. The place is small but fits a surprising number of people, which gives it an energetic, busy feel that I enjoyed. We ordered without much of a wait, and there was plenty to choose from. We went for the waffle with fried chicken and mac & cheese, plus bacon on the side. It was delicious and tasted like real American food. The portion was generous, and sharing the plate left us satisfied without being too full. I’d have liked more mac & cheese because it’s the best I’ve had so far. I definitely recommend trying the place. We enjoyed it and still talk about going back.

They handled our group of 8 easily, and the food came out quickly. Everyone was happy with their order. The food, coffee, and staff were all great. Such a cute place, too. They sell merchandise, so I picked up a cute mug.

We walked over from our hotel off Gran Via while looking for somewhere to have breakfast and eat like locals. We loved it enough to come back a second time. Si regresamos a Madrid pronto , ahí estaremos. 😊
