Boutike Cibeles

Our unit was exceptionally spacious, comfortable and thoughtfully laid out, with two bedrooms, each containing a king-size bed, and two full bathrooms, which worked well for a family or group. The open living and dining area was cozy, and the compact kitchen had everything needed to prepare meals. Each room had its own air conditioning unit, so the temperature stayed comfortable throughout. This hotel/apartment is in a perfect location, convenient and charming.

The apartments were very spacious, especially the two-bedroom ones, and I’d highly recommend them for a city visit. We were there with a large party for the Rock n Roll running series, and the location worked well for both the start and finish lines, with the city center still an easy walk away. My husband and I ended up staying an extra night after a blackout caused our trains to be cancelled and we couldn’t leave Madrid as planned. We were so grateful we could book another night here when other places couldn’t get into their online systems to take bookings.

I first noticed the problems in the main bedroom: mold on the walls and ceiling, dust gathered in both bedroom corners, and a live roach that escaped through a hole in the wall before I could catch it. The apartment was dated but spacious, with lots of mirrors on the walls and furniture. One glass-covered piece of furniture was cracked. I now understand why Boutike Cibeles offered us an “upgrade” to another apartment when I booked in September. They knew about some of the issues and still let my family stay there. The master bathroom didn’t feel safe. To get into the tub, you had to climb in and step past the faucet. The glass door couldn’t be opened from beside the tub, and the sink left no room to open it and reach the faucet before getting into the shower. In the second bathroom, the edges of the tub were moldy too. From the first day, I told reception I could hear water dripping inside the walls at night. The receptionist said it wasn’t their fault, that the apartments had flooded and they were waiting for the insurance company to come fix it. We were promised a soundproof apartment, but could hear the other tenants walking back and forth all the time. I’ve stayed at many places booked through booking.com with my family, and this was the first time I was completely dissatisfied.

The apartment was clean and comfortable, and the front desk staff were really friendly. We stayed at Boutike Cibeles earlier this month in a Sr. Suite with two bedrooms and two King beds, and we loved it. It’s also in a wonderful spot, near the Metro, restaurants, and attractions. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Madrid.
