The central spot was quiet, with Gran Via a two-minute walk away and Plaza España about five minutes on foot. Small supermarkets and a breakfast place were close by. Communication with the staff was perfect. My room was spacious, clean and quiet, with good lighting and plenty of outlets, including USB-A. There was a coffee machine with some capsules, a kettle with tea bags and herbal teas, and a microwave. The bathroom wasn't big, though the shower was a decent size, and a few bottles of shampoo and shower gel were provided. My two reservations are the dim bathroom lighting and the narrow, French-style bed. I personally don't like that kind of bed, since I mostly use a room to sleep while on vacation and wanted something more comfortable. Otherwise, everything was perfect.

Renfe cancelled our ticket to Madrid after the train disaster in Spain last Sunday, so our trip was called off. We contacted Booking.com and Dobo and were told we'd get a full or partial refund as an exceptional measure. But the accommodation management refused any refund, even a partial one, although we let them know well before our planned arrival. I found that lack of humanity and empathy deeply disappointing given the national tragedy behind the cancellation. We won't recommend this place to anyone; the way they handled an exceptional situation leaves a lot to be desired.

After Sunday's train accident made it impossible for us to travel, we asked to cancel our reservation and get a partial refund. They refused without even trying to negotiate. This was a business trip, and they knew that. When we tried to talk it through, they responded with lies and showed no empathy or sensitivity to such an exceptional situation. I can't recommend this hostel to anyone.

Check-in is entirely online. It isn't hard, though it may be tricky if you're not used to the process. The room was comfortable and well located, with the basics for a short stay in Madrid. Communication with staff could be better, but it was fine overall.
