Eco Via Lusitana

It’s easy to find food nearby, and the airport is only 15 minutes away. The room was super clean, even though everything looked old rather than dirty. The hallways smelled a bit like cigarettes. Our check-in guy was nice enough, but spoke like a robot. There were only two outlets. I’d recommend it.

The internet kept cutting out, which was a real problem since I work remotely. I was also told the A/C was off for winter, even though it had worked fine on the first day. The night receptionist was by far the worst, rude and unhelpful. After a long international flight, I asked if staff could heat up my meal. They refused and just pointed me to the buffet. It felt dismissive and unhelpful when I was exhausted. A little understanding and flexibility would have made guests feel much more cared for.

The only reason I’m not giving this one star is that the staff were very friendly. The breakfast buffet was limited, and the rooms seemed heavily smoked in. My room, 319, still had hair from the previous guest lying around, and the table was covered in cigarette burns. The whole building, including the run-down rooms and furniture, feels like it had its heyday in the 90s. They use magnetic key cards, and if one gets close to your phone, it stops letting you into the room. Then you have to go to reception to have it reprogrammed.

The breakfast was good and the room was fairly clean, but the place badly needs updating. The bed was broken and sagged, the laminate floor was loose and poorly fitted, and the bedroom furniture had lots of cigarette burns. The bathroom was clean, though its bath panel was split and patched. There were no tea or coffee facilities in the room.
