El Rincon de Gran Via

It was clean, with a decent-sized room and a good view. You can walk pretty much everywhere from this very central location, and the metro is close by. The bed was in really bad condition and uncomfortable. Street noise was constant since it's on a main road, though that didn't bother me. I also didn't expect a hotel like this to have no shower gel, shampoo, or other bathroom supplies.

We paid around 170€ for one night, and for that price I expected a much better stay. The room itself was spacious and nice, and the bed was comfortable. But after waiting nearly 30 minutes for the cleaning to finish, I found the shower rusty and the only amenities were soap and another dispenser whose contents I couldn't identify. Getting into the building was a mess. The hotel hadn't sent any entry instructions and didn't answer my calls or messages. I only got inside because someone else happened to be entering. The hotel itself is spread confusingly over several floors. Even though I arrived more than 90 minutes after check-in time, the room still wasn't ready. A bizarre and frustrating experience.

The room was clean and pleasant, with a small balcony. Once we finally got help, everything was fine, but arriving was disconcerting and left a bad first impression. The building looked residential, with no hotel lobby, and the entrance was dim and cold. A desk that seemed to be for a concierge sat empty, and nobody answered when I called the number on the reservation. We waited about five minutes, then felt reassured when two other people arrived to check in. A staff member eventually showed up after around ten minutes.

The location is excellent, and the staff, especially the receptionist, were very helpful. The rooms were clean and large.
