Hotel Emperador

Our room was quiet despite being right on Gran Vía, and the bedding was so comfortable that we slept very well each night. It was clean too. We had booked a room with a bath, but were given one with only a shower. The hotel was spotless, the staff were welcoming and polite, and our room was ready even though we arrived early. With the metro just steps away, sightseeing was easy. We had a fantastic four-night stay at Hotel Emperador and would choose it again if we return to Madrid.

We felt safe and well looked after during our stay at Hotel Emperador. The rooms and shared areas were spotless, which made everything feel easy and pleasant. Its central location made it convenient for sightseeing, shopping, dining, and getting around the city. The comfort and quality of the facilities also made it good value. A comfortable, reliable choice for Madrid, and I'd recommend it.

Gran Vía is a good location, but there are plenty of better hotels nearby at similar prices. The lobby looks elegant, though the rooms showed a very old, poorly maintained hotel. Calling them a complete scam is how they felt to me. Construction in the room above mine woke me every morning and carried on all day, with walls being broken. I was told the hotel was renovating, but nobody had warned me before my stay. I asked to move rooms and was refused. The beds were tiny and uncomfortable. In the bathroom, the shower had no pressure and the water temperature kept changing; there was no toilet brush. Reception had called the rooftop terrace a highlight, but when I went there, they wouldn't let me up to see the city lights because of “maintenance.” At checkout, nobody asked how the stay had gone or showed any concern about what I'd experienced. I visit Madrid several times a year, and this was one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. I wouldn't recommend it.

The room was quiet and clean, and the lobby was a comfortable place to sit while looking out at busy Gran Via. Taxis drop you right at the hotel, and many local attractions are within walking distance. The front desk staff were very helpful. I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Emperador and would book it again for business on my next Madrid visit. Breakfast was okay, though they didn't have my favorite, salmon.
