Gran Versalles Hotel

The hotel's location was convenient, and both the rooms and common areas were clean, tidy, and well maintained. But the reception service left a very negative impression. An older staff member with grey hair was dismissive, cold, and frankly rude from our first interaction. I politely asked about paying for a late check-out, but he gave a brief, unclear answer and showed no interest in finding a solution. Instead, he told me to come back at 6:00 in the morning to ask again, which seemed completely unnecessary. We had already agreed with the hotel that we could use the room until 18:00, with a small grace period until 18:15 because of an organized excursion outside the city. I left at 18:10, within that agreed time, but the same receptionist reacted rudely. Maybe he didn't know about the arrangement, but the way he treated a guest was inappropriate. His tone, body language, and general manner fell short of the courtesy and professionalism you'd expect from a hotel of this standard.

We stayed for two nights in a convenient area, close to shops and places to eat in a well-known part of town. The room was a decent size and comfortable. The reception is off to the side, so you don't really see staff as you come and go. There is a lift, but first you have to go up a few steps to reach it, something to keep in mind if you're carrying a lot of luggage.

Staff were friendly and professional, even if they didn't smile much, and we enjoyed our stay. The hotel could be a five star with more time and effort, but as it is, I'd give it four. The room was small and needed some minor repairs. There's no coffee maker or kettle, and no complimentary water beyond what's available from the tap. If cigarette smoke outside or noise bothers you, I'd avoid the first few floors. Ask for a room above the third floor and you should be fine. On our side, there was no elevator between the ground and first floors, so we had to carry our luggage up and down the stairs. There is an elevator for the other floors.

There's no complimentary water in the room or toilet brush in the bathroom, and I'm 100% sure this isn't a 4-star hotel. Reception needs to learn how to treat customers. Their passive-aggressive attitude made us uncomfortable.
