Gran VIA Deluxe

The location was good and the staff were friendly, but the room was very dirty, with an unpleasant smell and noises coming from the courtyard. There was no real window, just glass sealed into a shaft like the windows you sometimes see in old hospital bathrooms, so naturally the room had no light. The room numbers didn't match the photos. It felt like I'd ended up somewhere else.

I stayed here on a business trip to Madrid and was able to check in late at night after emailing the hotel staff. The room was small, but worked for what I needed. The Wi-Fi was fast, the shower was hot, and everything was clean and comfortable. It was quite dark, and the bathroom smelled a bit. You could hear a lot from the hallways because the door wasn't well insulated, but that was okay for a few nights.

The hot shower had pleasant water pressure, and I couldn't hear noise from other guests since everyone respected the rules. Smoking isn't allowed in the room, and as far as I know there aren't any rooms with balconies. Hostal Gran Via 63 Rooms has clean, well maintained rooms with air conditioning and Wi-Fi, plus friendly, attentive English speaking staff who can suggest things to see and help you get around. It's centrally located near some of Madrid's popular attractions. A comfortable, convenient choice for business or leisure, with helpful staff and a good base for exploring.

The location was good, and reception were helpful, but the rooms need updating.
