Hostal Biarritz

The first thing that happened at check-in was having to ring a bell. The woman who answered was rude and unhelpful, as if she didn't want to be there. We got three keys, but the one for the building door didn't work. When we came back, we often had to ring several times because the receptionist was asleep or in the bathroom. Our window looked onto a dark, creepy building, so we couldn't get fresh air. It felt like a sauna trying to sleep, and the night staff couldn't speak any English, so we couldn't communicate. The air conditioning is only turned on in summer, and the hairdryer barely worked. The room was tiny and nothing like the photos on booking.com. The toilet was squeezed into a miniature cubicle, where anyone with long legs would have to sit sideways. The shower was dangerous too, with a narrow, slippery bathtub to stand in. There was no small fridge, and the toilet wasn't a decent size. I've never had a worse hotel or Airbnb experience. You'd be better off in a hostel, where at least the facilities would work, the air conditioning would be on, and the bathroom and staff would be better. We left feeling completely ripped off.
