The way we were treated at reception was embarrassing. The staff were very rude and racist, treated us badly, and even refused to give us our room key. They wouldn't let us use the oven to heat our food either. The tallest guy in particular was awful.

The service was good, but the room was incomplete, and we didn't get fresh sheets during our five-day stay. Cleaners made a lot of noise while cleaning and didn't seem to care that someone was sleeping. For a €100 payment, they wouldn't even provide free water. Would I recommend it? No.

I chose this hostal for the view over callao, and it was incredible, the best view I've ever had from a place I've stayed. The noise comes with that view, but I didn't mind because it was worth it to me. Cleanliness was average, the atmosphere felt a little bleak, and the staff were okay. For the price, that's about what I expected.

The staff were really friendly and could speak several languages, and I thought it was good value for money. The location is right in the city center on Gran Via, Madrid's best-known avenue and one of its busiest spots. Just remember that air conditioning costs extra.

4/10
The city-center location was the one good part of the stay. The rooms were far too small, and in some, several beds were packed almost right against each other with no room between them. The beds were a bit dirty as well. Bathrooms were tiny, and the small window made one unsuitable for a room shared by more than one person. The rest of the experience was deeply disappointing.
