Hostal El Carmen

Room 411 faced a courtyard that wasn't pretty, but it was quieter than a street view. The room was compact, though fine if you're not spending much time indoors. It had a desk area, which I used for my clothes, and a mini fridge. The bathroom was lovely, with a rainfall shower head, wand, and glass doors. The location is next to a major shopping area, with easy access to attractions. Walk to Sol to get where you need to go. This hostal, or budget hotel in Spanish, is part of a group operating in the building, so it's well managed. Check-in is on floor 7. The lift works efficiently and fits four people, though there are about five steps to manage. Lights use the key card but are also switch controlled, with a switch by the bed. The WiFi cuts in and out a lot, so be patient if you need it. I had a minor light issue, there was daytime construction on the floor below, and some hallway doors were noisy, but none of that put me off. I'd absolutely stay here again.
