Hostal Sol Los Angeles

You can barely hear the noise even though the place is right in the city center, and the location makes everything easy to get to. It was spotless and tidy, with a great price for the quality. A fantastic place to stay and really good value.

There was a lot of outside noise for much of the night. The desk attendant was surly and unhelpful, gave us the wrong WiFi code, and didn’t explain how to find our room properly. The towels were worn and barely adequate: the two of us had to share one hand towel that also served as a bath mat. Staff wouldn’t replace our used, wet towels the next day. There was no hair dryer, and the soap portions were tiny.

The room was clean, the location was great, and the lift is working now. I believe it’s brand new. I had a very pleasant stay, though I don’t understand the negative comments. For the price, you can’t expect a five-star stay, but if you’re not too picky like me, it’s a great hotel. The main downside was the noise late at night. A few times on weeknights, drunk people shouting woke me up, even though we were on the fourth floor.

I never got the chance to check in, so I can’t rate the room, service, or location. My rating would be zero. I booked through a third-party website, then 24 hours before check-in got an email saying the Hostel had rejected my card. It told me to add another payment method and check with my card provider. The card was working fine, and the provider hadn’t blocked it. I added a second card and called the Hostal. The woman on the phone insisted Booking was the problem and told me to try a third card, even though the third-party website said payment was processed by Hostal Los Ángels. They also refused to let me pay at the property when I checked in. A few minutes after adding the third card, the facility cancelled my booking, just 12 hours before check-in. I was travelling with nowhere to stay and very little time to find somewhere else. That was unprofessional and stressful. I wouldn’t wish the same situation on anyone travelling abroad.
