Hostal Madrid Star is all about its location, and the price for Madrid Centro was very reasonable. The shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water, with no long wait. My room was clean and the bed comfortable. It's very basic, with limited front desk hours. Room service isn't available if you're still in the room after noon. Still, I was very satisfied.

A handy, affordable choice for a quick 1-2 day stop. The rooms were clean and adequate, and check-in and checkout were convenient. It's central, close to lots of restaurants, Plaza Mayor, and plenty of shopping streets.

The hostel is in a great, very central spot with all kinds of amenities nearby. The place itself is good, though it could use some refurbishing and better cleaning.

My father died two days before my trip. I told the hostel, but they refused to cancel or offer any flexibility. The lack of compassion at such a difficult time shocked me. I'm very disappointed and can't recommend it.

My husband's father died two days before our trip, and we contacted the property right away. We'd planned this trip for a long time and were devastated by his death. I couldn't believe how little compassion the Hostal showed me and my family during such a hard time. It felt like there was no humanity left in the world. Shame on you.
