Hostel H8

We left after the first night, and they refused to refund us. The listing on booking didn’t match reality. For the price, the conditions felt primitive, and I wouldn’t recommend it at all. The air mattresses were awful, the whole hostel smelled of paint, and there were no lockers for luggage or locks on the rooms, so leaving bags unattended felt unsafe. The shower room’s window looks onto the building’s common stairs and was open. We were given only two thin, small blankets for the cold night, and there were no curtains, so sunlight woke us right away.

The staff were so unfriendly they wouldn’t even say hello, and it seemed like they were competing to be the rudest. The room smelled damp and had no lockers. WiFi didn’t reach the rooms at the back. You get what you pay for, I guess. I’d rather pay $3 more and stay somewhere closer to downtown.

The hostel is close to the beach, less than a 14-minute walk away, and has a nice outdoor swimming pool where you can sit and relax before heading out. Everything was well organized and especially clean. The staff were friendly and always willing to help, and breakfast was simple, homemade and good. The room was quiet on the night I stayed, even though it was full of people, though that can depend. I liked it and would return someday. A really good place to stay, and I’d strongly recommend it if you’re looking for a hostel in this region.

There’s hardly any privacy, and they only give you one thin blanket that’s really just a duvet cover. No one spoke English. They don’t have lockers anywhere, though they looked at my backpack and made an exception. It’s very far out, about a 15-minute walk to each metro station. For backpackers, I’d recommend spending a couple euros more to stay closer to the city.
