Once you book, your money is gone because they don’t offer refunds. There’s just one bathroom for the whole hostel, and they never mention that. They also seem to use “mixed room” to mean eight people in the room, then eight more later, all sharing that same bathroom. That’s 16 people to one bathroom. Don’t book here. They’re scammers.

I arrived late at night and had an early flight, so there wasn’t time to find somewhere else. The room was badly ventilated, and the first bed smelled awful, whether from the clothes or the sheets. Nobody seemed to clean it. I sprayed more than half my 100 ml body spray, but it barely helped. The beds were uncomfortable, though by then I wasn’t focused on that anymore. There was one toilet, shower area, and sink for everyone. My dorm had 12 beds, and the hostel appeared to have at least four rooms, so you can imagine the demand. Reception was another problem. An older woman checked me in but spoke no English. I don’t expect everyone to learn English, but basic words like passport, ID, or booking number would help when welcoming foreign guests. She got another man to find my reservation in the Expedia app. We were in the lobby, with me standing there confused while she sat on a bench. She looked annoyed that I didn’t understand Spanish and made remarks about me to other guests, who joined in and laughed. I don’t think she’s a bad person, but she may not be the right person for check-in, or may have too many duties. I also saw her cleaning toilets. They wrote everyone’s details in rows on a single A4 sheet where other guests could see them. I could read the other entries, which seemed like a serious GDPR violation. She also photographed my passport and visa on a phone, and I couldn’t tell whether it belonged to the business or was her personal phone. I’d read the Google reviews while traveling from Madrid’s town centre, so I wasn’t expecting much. Expedia and other booking sites should remove this hostel, or visit without warning and decide based on what they find.

I’ve stayed in plenty of hostels, and this was the worst. Everything was dirty, the staff were rude and didn’t speak English, and there’s just one men’s toilet for the entire place. Don’t go.

The place was dirty, crowded, and badly kept. I was also worried about safety: the locks felt flimsy and there didn’t seem to be proper security. Staff were rude and not helpful. A terrible stay, avoid it.
