Hotel Madrid Rio

For a short stay, this was great value. The room was spacious and clean, with a comfortable bed. Reception and cafeteria staff were really friendly. The location was good and well connected.

The receptionist was polite and helpful, but the rest of the experience wasn’t great. I called many times about parking and got no answer, even though the number on both booking and Google Maps was correct. If you have a car, parking costs 20€ extra per night, if a space is available. My room had no window, the mirror was broken in the right corner, and the furniture was old. Next time, I’d pay more for a different hotel.

I was pleasantly surprised by this 2-star hotel. The neighbourhood is lively, with three metro stations each less than 10 minutes away on foot. The rooms were clean, the towels were changed daily, and the front desk arranged an airport taxi at a fair price. My stay was satisfying and great value for the money. It would be nice to see the furniture updated and the lighting improved.

The noise made it impossible for me to get decent rest. People talked, screamed, and slammed doors from midnight until 3am. The walls are paper thin, so you hear every sound along the room's corridor. The room wasn’t filthy, but it wasn’t clean either. Moving things like the bedside tables brought dust out. There were no toothbrush, toothpaste, or cleaning soap. Hotels I’ve stayed at usually provide those little things. There was soap, but it was fixed to the wall. The view was... special, with weird clothes hanging, cables, and other people’s windows. I hardly ever review places on Google, but this time I wanted to stop people from booking without knowing what it’s like. Whatever the owner does to hide how shabby the place is, think twice before booking. This is my honest experience. I’m pretty easygoing and have stayed in house-shares many times in different places. I suspect the good reviews are fake, or maybe those guests were very, very, very lucky.
