Ibis Budget Madrid Aeropuerto

I only needed a few quiet hours of sleep before continuing my international layover, and the room did the job. I came in at 2300 exhausted, and the front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. My room was small, but it had a bed, and I slept for a few hours on a high floor without hearing a sound. I'm glad I didn't spend those five hours sleeping at the airport, which I'd considered after reading the reviews. This isn't a spectacular place, and it's not as close to the airport as it seems. You'll need to factor in an Uber or taxi, as you would at some US airports where hotels are far away. That's not the hotel's fault.

Our six-day stay was fine, the price was good, and both room service and customer service were good. The room itself was small but okay. We badly needed extra pillows, but there weren't any, and there was only one extra blanket. I wish there were a proper bathroom for more privacy, and the toilet door could use a lock or even a magnet to hold it shut. They left only one shower towel per person, with none for hands or face. Folding luggage racks would also be nice.

We couldn't fly from Australia to Spain after our Qatar Airways tickets were cancelled because of the Iran conflict, so our two-night Ibis Budget Airport booking couldn't be used. We'd paid in advance for the “no refund” option, but when we contacted the hotel to ask about a credit or refund, they replied promptly and personally, requesting proof of the cancellation. We sent it, and within a couple of days Accor approved a full refund. The money appeared in our bank account the next day, and the hotel sent a personalised confirmation email. This was service beyond what we expected. Thanks to the hotel for understanding and generously refunding our booking, and special thanks to Camila Vega and Marcos Rodriguez for their thoughtful help and kind words. We'll return!

I wouldn't recommend staying here, even for one night. I thought it would do for a quick stop, but the rooms were dusty, and the bathroom had no ventilation or lock. The shower temperature kept changing sharply, with the water suddenly getting much hotter or colder while I was using it. There's no cleaning service, and if you spill something, you have to clean it yourself without any cleaning products provided. The hotel is far from both downtown and the airport.
