It could use a little freshening up, but the room was very clean and I'd stay again. The hotel has a quirky, Casablanca-like feel right in central Madrid, and all the museums were walkable. It seemed short-staffed, since the person checking us in was also running the bar, but they were amazing. Michael at the desk was pleasant and helpful. They offered us a lovely glass of wine after a busy day and a quick coffee before we headed to the airport.

The larger bed in our room was actually two singles pushed together, and they kept sliding apart overnight. Not ideal if you're a couple who like to sleep close. The hotel is a little worn but still in good shape, with a clean room, friendly staff, and a very central location. It's not a five-star property, but it doesn't charge five-star prices either. A great option if you're on a tighter budget.

I accidentally left a box of food I'd brought from Portugal on a table near reception. Juanra went looking for it and checked the cameras until he found it. Really appreciate employees who go beyond what's expected 🙏🏻

If a romantic, more bohemian place is what you're after, this little hotel may suit you perfectly, as long as your name isn't Karen. The decor is unusual, and I personally loved it. If you want a mainstream style, don't come here, go to the NH instead. We loved the bed, and the rooms were super clean. Ask the staff if you need anything, they're happy to help. Gran Via and lots of vintage shops are just around the corner, and you can walk to the museums and other highlights in 20-30 minutes. This place is a little dream!

We only stayed one night, our last night in Madrid, because they'd already charged us for it. The room was clean, smelled good, and had clean beds, but the rest of the experience was awful and the price was far too high. I can't help suspecting that reviews on other platforms are fake, because nothing matched what I read. The elevator only reaches the third floor, then there are uneven stairs, so it's not wheelchair accessible. I think the old building has potential, but it looks like they wanted to remodel it and could use a smart architect. The reception and lobby were dirty, with dusty rugs, mismatched old couches and sofas, and a filthy restroom that smelled bad. The black-walled reception office was disorganized and dirty too. The supposed eclectic style just looked chaotic, with flea-market and old-family furniture, animal tapestries on dusty walls, bundled electric cables, dusty halls and floors, and plastic plants covered in dust. The room's design had its own problem: the shower flooded the bathroom because the drainage was so poor. When I complained, the sour-faced woman at the desk told me to turn on the faucet and shower carefully so I wouldn't make a mess. We had to put towels down to avoid slipping. Service was cold from the start. I travel a lot, and the front desk staff were among the least welcoming I've met. No smile or even a simple welcome. We arrived an hour early and were told to wait until three. I waited in the smelly bathroom, then came back five minutes before check-in only to learn, because I asked, that we had to check ourselves in online. At $209 a night without breakfast, I expected a warmer welcome and a regular check-in. When we asked to leave our luggage while waiting, the woman took us to an already full closet and told us to pile our bags wherever we could. There were signs of work all over: visible DIY materials and rooms being remodeled, seen through a window onto a dirty inner patio, plus an electrician working on hanging cables from a ladder in the hall. There was about two inches of space under our room door, so we heard every conversation in the hallway and noise from above, with no sound insulation. This was an expensive, badly designed, dirty hotel, and a waste of money.
