Madrid 1915 Private Suites

We stayed from 28/09/25 to 01/10/25 and paid a 250 euro deposit. At checkout on 01/10/25, nobody raised any problems. I contacted them on 03/10/25 to ask about the refund and was told it would be processed that day, with no mention of an issue. But only about 218 euros came back. When I asked about the missing amount on 04/10/25, they suddenly said a pillow was missing from the apartment. They hadn't said anything at checkout, when the apartment should have been inspected, and they gave me no proof when I asked. I don't see how that claim could be substantiated. We didn't take a pillow or leave one behind during our stay. This seems to keep happening at this property, judging from other people's experiences and Booking.com reviews. If I'd read those first, I wouldn't have booked. You might get your deposit back without trouble, but with so many places in Madrid that don't require one, I wouldn't risk it. Do yourself a favour and choose somewhere else where your deposit isn't a gamble.

A clean, spacious apartment in a very good location. It had a full kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine, hot water, and Wi-Fi. Five stars.

Nothing in this apartment worked, and the manager didn't seem to care. There was no water, the boiler wasn't working, and there were no safe locks or safe. Worst stay of my life, and the worst property in all of Europe. Never stay in this garbage dump.

The apartment is beautiful and right in the centre, but I'd avoid it if you care about your money. They didn't return my €250 deposit for 10 days and wouldn't answer my messages. I found other people online describing the same problem, and Booking.com hadn't responded to me either. They only tell you about the deposit when your reservation is already in penalty mode. They say they won't provide the check-in codes unless you pay, so you have to hand over the money before you can get into the property, otherwise you're left out on the street. They also claimed the deposit had been released when it hadn't. That was very unprofessional. Update 12/9: After I posted this review, the transfer was "magically" processed and I got the money owed to me. They had told me it was already done, but the transfer actually went through on 11/9.
