NH Madrid Ribera del Manzanares

The breakfast buffet was outstanding, definitely worth having. Everyone was attentive and friendly, from reception, including Joabson & Cristina, to Nehza serving breakfast and the room service team. The rooms were well equipped, very clean, and quiet enough that you could barely hear the neighbors. It’s right by the river, nice for a walk, and close to the center. I’d come back anytime.

The hotel was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, but what meant the most was how kind the staff were. We were in Madrid while a family member was in the hospital and had to keep extending our reservation. The front desk team, especially both Cristinas, were incredibly helpful and accommodating. They made a stressful time much easier.

After waiting about 15 minutes for someone to take our drink order, I went to the bar to ask politely for help. Macarena asked whether we were planning to eat. I said we just wanted drinks for now and might order food later. She said she wouldn’t serve us unless we ordered food because she “needed the tables” for diners. There were at least 20 empty tables, and around 90% of the restaurant guests were my colleagues. Our company had also booked a significant number of rooms. When I tried to explain, she turned her back and ignored me instead of clarifying or offering an alternative. A colleague and I had joined several coworkers who were already eating at the hotel restaurant. I don’t know if this is official hotel policy, but even if it is, it should have been explained much more politely and professionally. Being turned away from joining colleagues because we weren’t ordering food fell well below expectations, especially as guests in a large group reservation.

The basic room amenities were lacking: the air conditioning didn’t work, the shower had weak pressure and kept changing temperature, and there was no in-room coffee or kettle setup. The online room-service portal went unchecked by the kitchen, so I never got my order but was still billed at checkout. After that, I tried Uber Eats, but the front desk wouldn’t let the courier bring it to my room, even though the lift had no security. The WiFi was basically nonexistent, and breakfast was a joke. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
