Numa Madrid Script

The shower was small, but as a very large American I managed fine. The hotel is on the 7th floor and has an elevator. The location was great, close to everything you'd want nearby.

For all 4 nights we had construction workers in the next room making full noise from 8am. The elevator also seemed poorly maintained: several times it stopped on a different floor from the one shown on the screen, and it always made strange noises. With 7 floors to cover, taking the stairs wasn't really an option. There was a bad smell in the room every day, like a bathroom malfunction or something. Before check-in, online support sent plenty of messages saying how kind and supportive they were. Once we were actually there, they didn't know who I was, where we were staying, or anything useful. A BOT handled the messages and seemed not to have been tested. It was useless.

The first day, our prepaid breakfast never showed up. On the last morning, they delivered pork even though we'd ordered a vegetarian meal. Customer service gave vague answers, wasn't helpful, and never followed up. After we were locked out, we asked for an early checkout and refund, but that was refused and we had to stay another night. The following night was cancelled and refunded when I moved to a different hotel. We'd paid a premium price, but the room was in poor condition, with stained walls and a floor that felt like a rubber gym floor. One evening, the entrance code stopped working, leaving several guests outside with no reception or phone number to call. We had to wait until someone eventually let us in. They offered compensation, but the whole thing was stressful and unacceptable. This will be my last time with Numa. Very disappointing for the high cost, and I can't recommend the property.

The only upside was being able to make simple meals in the kitchen. I can't recommend this place at EUR 150/night. My room was much smaller than advertised, less than 14 m2, and the bath was tiny. There's a lot of noise from the square next to the Parliament House. Every morning, loud political demonstrations with whistles woke us up, and on Sunday a brass band was playing loudly at 9 am. At a price as high as a hotel, I think they should include free cleaning for stays longer than 2 nights.
