Petit Hostel La Latina - Adults Only

The lovely view, good location, great breakfast, and generally helpful, cooperative staff made for a really nice stay. I booked through Hostelworld.com and had some confusion at first: the hostel took money from me, then asked me to pay again when I arrived. Hostelworld later refunded the first amount. If you book there, you may be charged initially and then asked to pay again at the hostel before the refund comes through. Booking directly on the hostel website seems simpler and smoother.

It’s a cozy, small hostel, with comfortable beds, very clean spaces, and friendly, helpful staff. The location is excellent, right by a major metro and train station, so getting around is easy. The 8-bed dorm is a little cramped, but the bed-cube setup and curtains still give you plenty of privacy. We had a great stay and would recommend it.

I left after one night and gave up the money I’d paid for the second, which I’ve never done in 15 years of staying in MANY hostels across different countries. I slept maybe two hours out of the eight I tried to get. The room had eight people packed into a tiny space, with no air conditioning at night and no window that could be opened. It was mid October and fresh outside, but all the rooms are underground, so inside it was boiling all night. By morning I knew I had to leave. They refused to refund the second night. I can’t recommend this unless sleeping in sauna-like heat sounds good to you. The central location was the one upside, along with the lovely personality of the Peruvian girl who greeted me at the door.

The beds are fairly comfortable and the location is good, but I wouldn’t stay more than 2 nights. The shower barely had any pressure, so rinsing off the shower gel was hard, never mind washing my hair. I don’t think the quality is worth the price.
