Petit Palace Posada del Peine

We loved staying here and will definitely return. The staff were friendly, the location convenient, and our room was tiptop clean, with a tiptop bathroom. The lavish breakfast buffet had plenty of tasty vegetarian options. James gave us a warm welcome and checked us in with exemplary professionalism and outstanding courtesy. He even went the extra mile and answered our email question about a period feature. What a gem of a hotel, and not only the oldest in Spain but also the nicest.

A wonderful hotel, with friendly staff, an amazing location, a cute, clean room, and delicious breakfast every day. We stayed in a Superior room on the 4th floor, with a balcony overlooking the plaza. There was a little street noise, but we expected that and were fine with the trade-off for the location. The walls and doors are a bit thin. You can hear people in the hall, and I could hear the neighbor’s mobile phone ringing. A room by the elevator would be tough. I still don’t understand why anyone builds showers that are only partly enclosed, when they’re obviously going to get water all over the floor. I’ve come across that design choice around Europe, and it still baffles me.

Plaza Mayor is only seconds away, with shops and bars right outside, so we could explore the city on foot with no trouble. We had a clean, comfortable corner room with plenty of space, and the reception team were courteous and helpful. Breakfast was very good too. We'd happily stay here again.

We came to Madrid for reasons beyond the hotel, but this place made our stay easy. It was clean, welcoming, and helpful, and the price felt reasonable. Breakfast was good as well.
