Petit Palace Santa Barbara Hotel

We had a very pleasant stay at Petit Palace Santa Bárbara and would gladly come back. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, and the staff were helpful and friendly. Mr. Juan Marcos and Mrs.Victoria were especially attentive and made the stay even better. The hotel's excellent location also made it easy to get around Madrid and see the city.

The breakfast spread was superb, with plenty of fresh juices, jams, pastries, fruit, vegetables, cheese, and sausages. The staff were very helpful and the rooms were OK. It's also handy that you can leave your bags in storage if you're departing Madrid late after the 12 o'clock checkout. There are lots of bars nearby, a metro station close by, and central spots like Sol, Plaza Mayor, and Retiro park are within walking distance.

Breakfast was included and great, served on a lovely terrace. Olga also helped my group throughout the stay and sorted out my taxi during a really busy time in the city. Thank you!

The room was clean, the location was good, and breakfast had a lot of variety, which I appreciated. But at $275+ a night, this didn't feel like good value. I've seen better ratings, and my stay was below average for that price. The decor in the rooms and shared spaces feels stuck in the early 2000s and needs updating and better care. The hall carpet had visible stains, the sink drain was rusty, and I could clearly hear guests walking around upstairs because the sound insulation was poor. There was also an opened yogurt container in the fridge that looked like it was left by a previous guest. That was disappointing in terms of cleanliness and attention to detail. The reception team could have been warmer too. Our interactions felt cold and transactional. At a much lower price this might be acceptable, but at the current rates it doesn't compare well with other nearby hotels.
