The location was the only real positive, along with the breakfast room staff. The room was dark, the sink was old, the bed uncomfortable, and the pillows very thin. The minibar wasn't cold, it was warmer than the room, and we later found a note saying water in the bathroom and toilet might be cut because of a pipe problem. When we arrived, construction was underway in the room across from ours. Dust was everywhere, workers were drilling loudly, and tools and materials were right outside our door. Reception said it would be finished within an hour and wouldn't continue the next morning. They said they'd have to ask the manager about moving us, but again assured us work wouldn't carry on. At 7:45 the next morning, drilling started again and they were ripping wallpaper off the walls. The sound insulation was already terrible: we could hear people next door walking around and using the bathroom at night. Between that and the construction, we were furious. We didn't know whether the lie or being sold a room in those conditions bothered us more. We went straight to reception and asked to move, saying we'd leave otherwise. They did change our room, but our holiday had already started with stress. I wouldn't recommend the hotel. They clearly don't care about customer satisfaction.

We stayed Thursday to Saturday, two nights, in a basic double and it was very quiet. The Retiro metro station is nearby, with plenty of restaurants and bars close too. The room was clean and smelled great. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the large bathroom had an awesome shower with strong pressure and hot water right away. Staff were friendly. The hotel has a Lyft/elevator, which is very convenient. We'd definitely stay again.

The receptionists were friendly and helpful, and they refunded the €20 lunch without fuss. The location was great too. The rest was disappointing. Our room looked run down but seemed reasonably clean until the slippers showed how dirty the floors must have been. Several times, the hotel pushed us to pay another €60 to pick a room in advance, making it sound urgent. That was unacceptable at this price. We also paid €20 to pre-book a meal at the hotel restaurant, but they left us off the list. After a long discussion, they seated us in the bar instead. We were allowed one menu item each, worth about €15, despite having already paid €20. The chef showed us he'd written down our orders correctly, then brought out one completely different dish. It felt like he might have been trying to get rid of something another guest had returned.

We had a wonderful stay in the one-bedroom apartment. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were lovely. Our windows opened for fresh air and looked out over the park. It was far enough from the crowds to feel peaceful, but close enough to get into the busy area.

The room was small but comfortable and very clean. We had trouble working out the complicated shower at first, but eventually figured it out. The location and breakfast were excellent, and the breakfast staff were amazing. Reception was friendly, though parking caused a problem: the usual place was closed and they hadn't updated the information.
