Radisson RED Madrid

The bedroom had small cockroaches throughout. That’s unacceptable anywhere, especially at a hotel that calls itself four-star. Cleanliness is essential, and this alone makes a higher rating hard to justify. The air conditioning also ran constantly and loudly enough to disrupt rest. The lobby looked clean, modern and cared for, but the hallways felt dark and depressing, with poor lighting and dated, unattractive decor. Housekeeping was inconsistent too: towels weren’t fully replaced, water wasn’t replenished, and the fridge was empty, with no minibar or basic refreshments to buy. Those seem like basic expectations for a hotel at this level. The gym is small but looks nice. Still, that doesn’t make up for the broader maintenance and service problems. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was extremely disappointing. There’s no way I’d consider it a four-star hotel. On a good day, it feels like one or two stars. I hope management takes this seriously, because there’s potential here, but the execution isn’t acceptable.

The cocktails Aaron made were super tasty, and he was a great bartender. My wife and I had a brilliant stay in Madrid, with a lovely superior room and outdoor terrace. The hotel has a cool, relaxed feel. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone.

We really appreciated how dog-friendly the place is. They welcomed our dog, brought bowls, and handled the little details with easy, thoughtful service. The team was proactive, and it worked well for both work and a break. We kept coming back to the lively lounge and bar downstairs for a drink before heading out. The location by Atocha is handy, close to the station, Retiro park and the museums, and it makes for a good quick getaway. You’re central, though rush-hour traffic can add to the frustration. We wished the rooftop terrace had been open. It was closed during our stay, so next time we’ll check the dates and hope that’s clearer in advance.

The whole team, from reception and the restaurant to room service and security, were kind and professional. This was my first visit to Madrid, and the hotel made it memorable. I know Radisson, but this one really impressed me. I’d recommend booking breakfast too, which I think is the best international hotel breakfast. You can walk to everything you need in about five minutes, including public transport to the airport. Enjoy!
