Hostal San Antonio

For the location, the price was simply incredible. The staff were helpful and always charming, and our clean room had all the facilities we needed. I've stayed here twice, once in the summer of 2014 and once in the winter of 2016, and plan to stay every time I visit Madrid. The staff are very nice and accommodating, and will do almost anything to make your stay enjoyable. For such a cheap price, the room is a very adequate size, and the place is very clean, with fresh, comfortable sheets. It’s in a perfect part of the city, within walking distance of lots of fun places and right by the subway. In summer it isn't too hot, and in winter it's nice and cozy. The bathroom is a great size for European hotel rooms, and that's coming from a space-hogging American. If you want somewhere great to stay without hurting your budget, you can't do better than the Hostal San Antonio.

We had a little balcony overlooking the street, and the hotel felt very safe. The staff were extremely nice and accommodating, and there was air-conditioning and room service. The room was tiny but clean, with an even tinier newly renovated bathroom that had no fan. The hotel was cool inside, almost cold, but that’s better than being too hot. There's no elevator, which could be a problem for people with mobility issues. The location in central Madrid is perfect.

The double room I booked online was guaranteed to have a balcony or terrace, but the one I got faced a wall, had no view, balcony or terrace, and was very dark. It needs updating and new furniture. There were no other rooms available and no refunds. This was a mistake, and I’ll never stay here again. Not recommended. There are many better places to stay in Las Letras neighborhood.
