Sercotel Madrid Aeropuerto

We had the worst night ever because there’s no soundproofing at all. From the room, we could hear every conversation in the hallway, where people were talking loudly until at least 2am. Every time someone opened or shut a door, we woke with a start. Guests in the room above dragged furniture and dropped things on the floor all night, waking us over and over. We were also woken several times by firecrackers or gunshots, impossible to tell, and police sirens. The neighborhood felt a bit sketchy, almost like sleeping in GTA. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the hall looks nice. There’s a gym, restaurant, and bar, though we didn’t try them. The hotel is conveniently close to the airport, but the bathroom wall and door are glass, so you can hear everything and see a little. There’s no real privacy. If you’re staying with someone special, prepare for the most romantic bathroom trip of your life. If you need to be rested for something important the next day, consider another hotel. We couldn’t get any rest.

The reception area is roomy and has a place to work, and they have a really useful luggage storage policy. The rooms and facilities were clean. Front desk staff were dependable, friendly, and good at communicating in English, especially David. The shuttle and its drivers were prompt, efficient, and polite. I’d definitely stay again.

Getting to the airport by bus was easy since the hotel is quite close. The staff were very friendly, and booking a transfer back to the airport for the following day was simple. I hadn’t understood from the check-in message that, on arrival, I needed to ask the airport information desk to call the hotel and arrange the pickup. So I took the bus instead.

My room was much warmer than I wanted, and opening the window was the only way I could cool it. I was also charged for breakfast even though my reservation said it was included. The airport shuttle was over 30 minutes late, and even after I took a taxi to the hotel, it still hadn’t left. Not a great experience.
