Hotel Sterling

The hotel was quiet and spotless, with a good range at breakfast, and we found it easy to get to the attractions. The staff were so friendly and helpful. It was also great value. We couldn’t have picked a better place, and would definitely recommend it.

It’s a quiet spot to rest, even though most of Madrid’s highlights are only minutes away. The staff were superb and the price was very reasonable. Breakfast is optional, with a well-stocked buffet and good coffee, though there aren’t any hot dishes. Aside from that, it gets a high five from me.

The room was comfortable and quiet, and the service was excellent. Noviciado Metro station is very close, with access to Lines 2 and 10. Many key places are also within walking distance, so the location is amazing.

The hotel is attractive and centrally located, but the service was just so-so. I can’t comment on the food or breakfast. I booked through booking.com, and although the website clearly says pets stay free, staff insisted on charging a daily fee. I asked for a complaint form to try to avoid it; they charged me for just one day, but I still understood the fee to be against what the website says, and possibly illegal. When the room was cleaned, they left the cups I’d used for my dogs’ wet food and water under the sink, and didn’t restock the mini fridge. I’d also told them at check-in that I wanted to leave a day early during my five-day stay. Because I’d chosen a non-refundable booking, I realize that may be expected, but I made the request within 24 hours of booking and felt it should have been handled without the whole “speak to the manager” ordeal. They insisted I come to the front desk at a specific time to do that. I won’t stay here again. Other three-star chains nearby charge the same or less and seem much more dog-friendly and accommodating. I stayed at one in Barcelona and did a quick price comparison.
