The central location meant everything was within walking distance, and the apartment was comfortable and very nice. The staff were great too. Still, we didn’t get to enjoy ourselves the way we wanted. Pickpockets are common downtown, and someone quickly took cash from my husband’s wallet in his pocket. It made us feel unsafe and kept us on high alert for the rest of the trip. Be careful on the metro with luggage, too, and keep an eye on each other because pickpockets may target you. There’s a bar on the corner that stays open late, and it’s very loud. There’s always a fight there, with people shouting at each other and police showing up. We could hear all of it from the apartment.

Walking along Calle de la Montera, I spotted another lovely sight, The Garden Suites. It’s an aparthotel right in the middle of Madrid, with a striking vertical garden façade. The 200-square-meter green wall, designed by Paisajismo Urbano, brings a refreshing touch to the busy city center. I loved seeing it!

The flat was fantastic, very modern, and had all mod/coms. We were on the 4th floor out of 6. The bathroom was beautiful, with big showers, and the beds were comfortable with fluffy towels. Everything was spotlessly clean. The area is great, very close to Gran Via, with restaurants, bars, and cafés. The windows all face a walking street, so it can be a little noisy at night. The pre-arrival information and messages were excellent too. The shower and sink water were only tepid. I called the number they’d texted at 21h30 and didn’t expect an answer that night, but I did expect a reply the next morning. None came. We were only there for one night, so I didn’t follow up, but it was disappointing after an otherwise great stay. A few more English TV programs would have been nice too.

I was really happy with the place and the unit we stayed in. It was reasonably priced, centrally located, beautiful, clean, and well kept. I’d easily recommend it, would happily return anytime, and was pleased with everything. ♡

The hotel is beautiful and small, with a sleek, modern room that looked straight from a magazine. Its Madrid center location is amazing. Puerta del Sol and two Metro stations are right nearby, and almost every major attraction and museum is under a 20-minute walk. Each floor has just one room, which is nice. There’s free laundry and a free open-air rooftop deck too. For a first-time visitor to Madrid, it’s a great place to stay, and the pros definitely outweigh the cons. Street noise was the main drawback. A beer hall opposite the hotel draws people outside from 11 AM until 5 AM the next morning, and the late-night noise made it hard to sleep. Beer hall customers also sat on the narrow stoop and blocked the hotel doorway. One TV in the room wasn’t working properly and wasn’t fixed during my visit.
