Tótem Madrid Hotel

We've been coming for years, and it's reliably good every time. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The Barrio de Salamanca location works well for shopping and dining, with easy connections to other Madrid neighborhoods. Love it.

TOTEM is undeniably beautiful and wonderfully located, but at this nightly rate I expected more from the service, room size, and amenities. The front desk staff weren't rude, though they didn't feel especially welcoming either. My room was nice, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. I also loved looking out onto the pretty, quiet street. Still, it was so small that I could barely open my luggage. At this price, the tradeoffs are hard to make sense of. After Madrid I stayed in San Sebastián, where the same amount paid for twice as many nights, a much better room, and a much friendlier hotel. Here, it felt like I was mainly paying for the location.

Daniel was especially welcoming and made an already lovely stay even better. The hotel was spotless and well organized, with a refined feel throughout. It's in an elegant, quiet area, which made the visit all the more enjoyable. I'd stay here every time I'm in Madrid without hesitation.

Breakfast lets you pick items from a menu, and the location is excellent. The enclosed parking area is decent, though the spaces are very narrow and you may need someone to help you park. I wasn't keen on the hotel itself, and the price feels clearly too high.
