Cathedral Malaga Hostal - Hostel

The location is fantastic, with the main beaches, promenades, historic center, and Mercadona all easy to reach on foot. The rooms and kitchen are decent for the price. The toilets were the letdown: there’s too little privacy. It’s awkward sitting there making noises while women do their hair just behind a curtain.

My bus was cancelled, so I couldn’t arrive in time to check in. I messaged the hostel and got no reply. By the time I arrived, they’d already given my bed away for the week. I explained that I had contacted them and that they should check their inbox, but the host was rude and wouldn’t refund me.

The place is awkward to find: the road is actually C/ Don Juan de Málaga, and there’s no sign on the door. Once you’re in, it’s okay, especially when the dorm isn’t full and nobody’s on the rickety metal bunk above you. The location is great, the staff are nice, the WiFi works well, and the facilities are adequate. It felt safe, and the price is perfecto. Just be fine with sharing the showers and toilets with men and women, since the shower cubicles are pretty see-through.

There’s just one shared bathroom for at least 20 people, with two toilets and three working showers. The shower stalls are transparent, so only one person can shower at a time. The bathroom was dirty, with a free swimming pool from a leak. Spend the extra 4€ and book somewhere better.
