Hostel Superlativo Trinidad

The kitchen is very basic, with just a small fridge and one microwave, no stove or oven. Our two-person room had only one hanger, so I kept putting my towel over the door handle. On the plus side, the bathroom was clean and there were always showers and toilets free to use. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location is close to the center, with most places less than a 20-minute walk away. Worth the price.

The main drawback was how clearly you could hear the neighbors and people walking along the halls through the thin walls. Light sleepers will need earplugs. I spent four nights at Superlativo Hostels Trinidad in Málaga, and otherwise liked the stay. The staff were really friendly, service was good, and they let me check in early. When I extended my stay, they arranged things so I could keep my room without checking out and back in. The hostel and shared spaces were generally clean. It’s a 15-minute walk from the city center, with a bus stop two minutes away and Lidl, Dia, and Aldi within walking distance. The rooms were good. The kitchen was clean and had a fridge, microwave, coffee machine, and a dispenser for cold, room-temperature, and sparkling water. The showers and toilets were clean and easy to use, but there’s no private place to change before or after showering. The cubicles don’t leave space for that, and the only small stool for your things is outside. Towels and shower gel/shampoo are included, which is a nice bonus.

The room got stifling and airless because its air conditioning barely worked. I asked at reception, and the man reset it but said it would probably go back to the same state and nothing else could be done. That made the nights very uncomfortable, and I wouldn’t stay again. I’d pay more for a hotel room with more space and comfort. The rooms are tiny, so they’re not suitable if you can’t handle a cramped space. You’ll also need earplugs: with people above, below, and beside you, every movement and cough comes through. Most guests were fine, but one or two shouted and talked loudly late into the night. Still, this is a very economical place, close to the center, shops, and places to eat. The shared areas, toilets, and showers were kept very clean, thanks to the hard-working cleaners. Towels and handy slippers were provided, the beds were surprisingly comfortable, and reception made check-in easy. There’s a communal kitchen with a fridge and microwave, which is enough to prepare food. It mostly did the job for my four-night trip to Málaga, and I can’t fault the staff for the effort they put into keeping the hostel in order.

I’ve stayed in hundreds of hostels, and this is the best one I’ve found. It’s truly Superlative. Love it.
