Hotel Zeus

I liked how easy it was to get around from here. Cercanias, trains, metro, and buses are convenient, though if you want to spend your days at Malagueta and Plaza de la Merced, other parts of the city would suit better. I stayed for a long week. The staff were very friendly and the cleaning was thorough. The rooms are comfortable, but there are a couple of things to know before booking. The windows didn’t close all the way, as if they were the wrong size, so more noise came in than it should have, even though the street itself is pretty quiet. Breakfast is served at a different hotel. That doesn’t seem temporary, so it ought to be clearly announced. Still, it was a very pleasant stay, and I’d consider this hotel again.

The hotel was handy for the train station and the room matched its description. But when we arrived, the room smelled very strongly of cleaning products, so we had to open the window. Back that evening, we realized the bathroom pipes were releasing a stink. It was pretty disgusting, and we had to keep the bathroom door shut. We were only there for one night and had to get up early, so changing rooms seemed like more trouble. I strongly suspect they tried to cover the smell when we arrived because the product odor was so intense. Given what we paid and how much it felt like they were masking the problem, I decided to leave a bad review.

The room was very clean and had what we needed. Staff were friendly and helpful, and it was very reasonable for the price. It’s about a 20-minute walk into the town center. The hotel was a little noisy and the air conditioning didn’t work, but I’d stay again.

For a 2-star hotel, this was so much better than plenty of 3- or 4-star places I’ve stayed in. The staff were amazing, and for the price, you really can’t ask for more in terms of cleanliness, location, or comfort. We loved our stay. When we’re back in Malaga, we won’t think twice about staying here again.
