I spent about 90 minutes here, and it was an insightful, air-conditioned look at Picasso's life through his work. The museum is spread over two floors and focuses on many earlier, less familiar pieces, which gave it a different feel. When I visited, there was also a fun ground-floor show by another artist with a Cubist, Picasso-inspired style. I went near the end of October without advance tickets and arrived late in the day, so the line was only 5 to 10 minutes. It could get very busy, though, so booking ahead seems sensible.

We were students visiting with two friends, and the ticket desk staff immediately noticed we were young and kindly told us entry was free if we were students and under 18. It's a small museum but packed with information about Picasso and his family. The staff were lovely and explained everything. You can also bring headphones to listen to information about the pictures.

Set in the artist's family home, the museum has a rich collection covering every period of his life and the times around Pablo. I found it one of a kind in Malaga, and a must for anyone who admires him.

I went on Sunday afternoon, 8 March 2026, and entry was free after 4pm. It's a fairly small museum, though it can get crowded at times. There was plenty of information about Picasso, with exhibition rooms on both the ground and first floors.

Start here for a Picasso-focused tour, since this is where he was born. You get a sense of the surroundings he grew up in and how his painter father guided him from early on. There are works from different periods, tied to Spain and especially Malaga. Don't expect major works, but it's more than fine as an introduction.
