Novotel Suites Malaga Centro

The location makes it easy to walk around Malaga, but that was the only good part of our stay. From beginning to end, it was a nightmare. In the Malaga heat, the broken air conditioning left the room like a boiling sauna. The windows only opened a millimeter, so there was no airflow. We tried to sleep with them propped open as far as they would go, but it was noisy and did nothing to cool the room. We had an exhausting night. We’d booked for three people and were given one small bottle of water. That felt stingy and dismissive. The shower pressure and temperature were fairly okay, but the bathroom floor was dangerously slippery. Don’t be misled by the location or the word “suite”. It was just a room split in two by a curtain. The heat, lack of basic supplies and bathroom safety issue made the stay miserable. Save your money and sanity, and find somewhere with working AC where guests are valued.

The room was comfortable, and the location is handy for the train and bus stations, shopping and the old center. But the only view was of nearby buildings, and the kitchenette was extremely tiny. We had to go downstairs to get plates and cutlery. You pay extra for the space, without getting anything else. I probably wouldn’t return.

It’s well located, though parking costs an extra €14 a day. The room’s AC can’t be adjusted, and even with 20°C outside, the only setting you can switch on is heat, so it gets boiling hot. For €150 a night, it’s shocking that there’s no hair dryer. The fridge and exhaust fan were both broken, and there wasn’t even bottled water. Terrible value for money.

We had a great holiday at this hotel in Málaga’s quiet center. Restaurants, markets, the train station and railway station are all accessible, about 15 minutes away. The rooms were clean, and the service was excellent and discreet. The reception team was very pleasant, especially Roxana. Breakfast was excellent, European style, with plenty of high-quality fruit, cheese and snacks. Alicia in the breakfast room was excellent too.
