I paid ahead, but they wouldn't let me check in and refused to return the money. They just made excuses when I got there. This hostal takes deposits and won't refund them, so avoid it.

After we spent the afternoon trying to sort everything out, a young couple from Italy showed up and said they'd been scammed too. That's when it was clear this wasn't just a mix-up. The apartment we had booked wasn't available. They tried to put us in another one, but the conditions there were appalling, so we refused. They then blamed us for missing check-in, even though their alternative had sent us elsewhere. They'd asked for a €450 deposit, and four of us ended up stranded on the street. They told us to go back to the first address, saying a place had opened up, but it felt like a ruse to run out the check-in time. Calling the number listed on Booking.com got us only a recording directing us back to Booking.com. We spent hours calling to complain, and were told there'd be no refund because check-in hours had passed. Luckily, we did get our money back. Worst customer service I've ever dealt with. I'd be ashamed to treat people that way.

They cancelled the booking outright and wouldn't let us check in, even though my mother met the requirements. The listing's 35-year age restriction wasn't made clear. We only received those misleading conditions after paying for the stay and the SUPER HIGH €495 deposit on a non-refundable booking. The cancellation wasn't our fault. Why wasn't the age rule disclosed upfront? Booking.com isn't meeting its responsibilities as an intermediary platform.
