Villa Alicia Guest House

Lily at the desk was great. The neighbourhood is quiet and nicely placed, close enough to explore on foot without being right in the middle of everything, and I enjoyed wandering around. The room itself, Room 1, was basic but fine. When the place was quiet, it was great, but noise from the terrace, kitchen, and corridor became too much, especially early in the morning, around breakfast and cleaning, and when people were leaving. I was disappointed to learn the roof terrace was for private use only after I asked about it, since I had read it was available when booking. The shared bathroom needs an update, and the single shared toilet was in poor shape, very small, and opened into the central area. I checked out after two days and moved to an Airbnb like this one but closer to the beach, with two good shared bathrooms, for considerably less, 18 euros a night. This place is nice, but I don't think it's the best value for what you get.

We only wish we'd stayed longer at Villa Alicia. The house is beautiful, and it has a really comfortable, quiet, cosy feel. The staff were welcoming, kind and helpful without hovering. It's in a sweet residential neighbourhood away from the tourist crowds, but you can still walk to everything. I'd absolutely recommend it and come back.

The shared kitchen and washing machine were handy for a longer stay, and in the mornings the staff quickly brought us coffee or tea to enjoy on the terrace. The outdoor spaces are charming too, with lots of plants and greenery that make the guest house feel relaxing. What really stood out was the reception team. They spoke excellent English, so not knowing Spanish wasn't an issue, and the receptionist patiently explained how to get places and which parts of Málaga to visit. Everyone was welcoming and helpful, and made us feel comfortable. We had a lovely stay at Villa Alicia Guest House and would happily return to Málaga.

They can put together a food bag, locally called a picnic, if you ask the day before and need to leave before breakfast. That was the best part for me. The bedroom was cozy and clean, with its own bathroom, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It's in a calm spot, about a 20 to 30 minute walk from the historical center. Definitely recommend it.
