The property is stunning, honestly one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed. You’ll need to rent a car. Sheep are part of the setting, and they’re loud, numerous, and not shy about relieving themselves, sometimes right outside your window at 6am. The bigger problem was the check-in mix-up. The host sent instructions with the wrong apartment name, then edited the message without telling us. A family of five ended up knocking on our door because we were in their apartment, and we had no idea anything had changed. The host reacted with a bad attitude and took no responsibility. We worked it out with the family ourselves, without her help. I’m giving four stars because the place itself is that good, and honesty matters more to me than being petty. Still, I won’t return, and future guests should take the host’s conduct into account.

We love son mesquida, but the management seems to have changed since our last visit, as a few reviews also suggest. She changed the tourist tax amount twice, then berated me for wanting to pay the correct amount. She also failed to collect the information the government legally requires from her. We couldn’t use the oven to cook the groceries we’d bought, and she didn’t care. When challenged, her attitude felt retaliatory.

Our room was clean and had beautiful views, but check-in and checkout were done over WhatsApp and we didn’t see any staff during our stay. That gave the place a bit of a hostel feel. The shared kitchen wasn’t very clean, and the bins weren’t emptied until after four days. Common areas had nice decor, though they somehow felt short on warmth or soul, almost like a haunted mansion at times. Son Mesquida Vell sits in an idyllic, peaceful spot in the middle of nature, and the finca has a lot of potential. The decoration is charming, but the property seems to have seen better days and needs more care. The land is overgrown with weeds and looks very dry. Outdoor shared spaces that look lovely in pictures weren’t in great shape when we visited in October 2025. The vegetable garden is gone, and the children’s playground felt unstable and not really safe to use. If you want a wonderfully rural setting and don’t mind a boho, rustic feel, this could suit you, but the finca would benefit from more maintenance and care.

The orange cat was the star of the farm, very friendly and following us around, so bring treats for her. We also loved the sheep wandering around the yard, the night-time lights that made the place feel like a movie set, and the owls perched on the main building, a little spooky but lovely. It’s a traditional, quiet farm with a spacious, nicely furnished apartment and a full kitchen. There’s plenty of parking, and Manacor is about 10 minutes away. Self check-in and checkout were easy. It’s quite different from regular accommodation, but we loved it and would definitely return. There were some downsides. The farm looked neglected and could use renovation and a cleanup, with sheep droppings everywhere. Some sheep looked dirty and in need of more care. Mobile signal was almost nonexistent except for a few spots with one bar. Wi-Fi didn’t work for the first few days and was fixed only the day before checkout. The apartment has AC, but it didn’t cool the room properly.

The setting made a great base for exploring the island. The nearest beach is about a 20-minute drive away, and the closest town about 10 minutes. Since it’s a working farm, expect sheep around, and you’ll need a car. It was good value for Mallorca, especially with the facilities: a well-equipped shared kitchen, lovely terraces, and beach umbrellas you can borrow. The online check-in was smooth. It was clean, quiet, and ideal for unwinding. A few things to plan for: bring beach towels, since none were provided. There’s no AC, just fans and dehumidifiers, and we could hear some noise from the room above our first-floor room. Wi-Fi was patchy at times, and there’s no mobile reception on the country road outside the farm, so load your routes before setting off or arriving.
