We found a notice at the town hall from the mayor, dated January 15, 2024. It said the town’s water was chemically contaminated with uranium and must not be used in the mouth. It was allowed for personal hygiene and cleaning, but the notice prohibited using it for ice, food, infusions, or coffee, or drinking it after boiling. We’ve attached a photo of the notice. We felt completely deceived. We stayed in November 2025, yet the owners only told us about the water on the day we were due to arrive, despite knowing about the issue since January 2024. They also gave us guidance that contradicted the town hall notice. The owner sent a WhatsApp message with the check-in instructions that day, saying the town’s water wasn’t drinkable and that they’d left ten 5-liter bottles in the kitchen. When we asked for clarification, they said it was fine for showering and washing, and that they brushed their teeth and used it to cook pasta. That was a surprise to us, given the notice.

The outside area was lovely, with a picnic spot separated from the pool by wooden gates you can see through. Inside, there’s a large living room with a huge table, and the bedrooms and bathrooms were fine. It’s a very nice house for a big family, but it needs a deeper clean. The cutlery was very dirty at mealtimes, the trays had an incredible layer of dust, and the oven tray was dirty too. They should do a thorough clean or hire someone for a deep clean.

We had a fantastic weekend. The owner was so thoughtful and delightful, and treated us wonderfully. The house was spotless, spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. Highly recommended.

Inside, the house itself was quite nice, but the outside felt neglected. We had to report every problem by phone, and never had any personal contact with the owner. It made for a very bittersweet stay, and the owner offered us no help at all. In situations like this, I think both parties should have to provide a security deposit. We were told only 48 hours ahead that there was no drinking water. In our view, that showed a lack of professionalism and empathy toward tenants. They should have told us from the start so we could decide whether we were interested. About 80% of the mosquito nets were torn, which was especially inconvenient in the kitchen with so many wasps, and we had to fix one ourselves. We also found dog feces in the garden. The dishwasher worked sometimes and sometimes didn’t. There was no lighting near the barbecue or pool, making it very difficult to barbecue at night or go swimming. A wasp nest in the wood-fired oven chimney led to several family members being stung while in the garden.
