OH Urban Suites

This was our honeymoon, which made the whole stay at OH Urban Suites even more upsetting. We booked a balcony room and checked with the owner, George, two days before arrival. He said someone would meet us, but nobody was there. After we contacted him, he gave us the entry code and told us where to find the room key. That key didn’t fit our room. George said he’d be there in five minutes, but arrived half an hour later with the correct key. The room hadn’t been cleaned and other people were still staying in it that evening. George offered another room and a free night, then later refused the free night. The room we were moved to had taped together exposed wires between the headboard, and we couldn’t tell if they were live. There was damp on both the floor and ceiling in one corner. Instead of the balcony we’d booked, there was a tiny window with no curtains or blinds. The broken door handle meant we had to use the key to pull the door open. We found another hotel for the rest of the week. George confirmed we’d get at least the first night refunded, but six weeks later we were still waiting. Getting a response took several calls and texts, and his communication was dreadful. The whole experience was a disaster, and I’d urge people not to book here. See pictures.

This didn’t feel like a hotel at all, more like a hostel room.

The apartment is new, nicely furnished, and looks very good, but there’s no sea view or windows. Some of the electrical outlets are set into the ceiling, and others into concrete blocks. My partner felt closed in and couldn’t cope, so we asked to move. At first they agreed, then went back on what they’d said and made us stay. Two people manage the apartments, and what he promises, she doesn’t follow through on.

I didn’t find the apartment comfortable. There’s no elevator, and they should make it clear that it’s on the third floor. There aren’t any curtains either. Since it’s an apartment with no cleaning service, you end up living with the dirt, and basics like a broom, mop, and dishcloth are missing. There’s no pot and no knives, so cooking much beyond toast and a fried egg isn’t really possible. The place itself is nice and well located, but those missing basics made it a poor fit for us.
