Lopesan Baobab Resort

The entrance greenery and waterfall set the mood straight away. Walking in felt like stepping into another world, and I felt relaxed and happy. The African theme is thoughtfully done across this huge Lopesan hotel, with large, mildly heated pools and a lazy river. It's close to the promenade, restaurants, Maspalomas beach and the dunes, as well as a bus station for Puerto de Mogan and Puerto Rico. Breakfast had a good spread and quality, and the friendly chefs and staff were accommodating. The nightly entertainment had a good variety. Service was good, and the Lopesan app made it easy to request a few room items. Our room and the walkways were a bit tired, with some wallpaper coming loose. Pool towels were handed out at the pool huts only from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., though reception had them too. The pools were good for a family holiday, and we enjoyed our stay.

After emailing the hotel formally about this, I still haven't received a response. During my stay, I had an urgent personal situation and needed to get to my unwell husband, who was a considerable distance away. I asked the front desk for guidance or even minimal help, but was simply directed elsewhere and told they couldn't assist. I understand there can be operational limits, but in a property of this category, service should also mean empathy and taking initiative. Nobody asked for my room details, offered basic follow-up, or showed concern. As a hotel industry professional and a Unique guest, I see a clear gap between the expected five-star standard and what I experienced. Luxury needs care, sensitivity and commitment as well as facilities and appearance. Without that, the category loses its meaning. Excellence has to be shown consistently.

We had two rooms at a great price for what we got, and it never felt overcrowded. There were lots of families enjoying themselves with young children, and we found it relaxing. The rooms were large and lovely, with comfortable beds, and we'd happily stay again. The hotel is beautifully decorated with a lot of attention to detail. Staff were attentive from reception through room service, the food was excellent, and there were plenty of places to sit by the pools or swim in the canal around the facilities. Evening entertainment was great too. Thank you!

The breakfast was really good, and the pools were amazing. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff are helpful, and I wish we could have stayed longer. The rooms aren't very soundproof, though. We spent the first two nights beside a crying baby and couldn't sleep at all. We went to reception in the middle of the second night, and they moved us to another room without hesitation. That saved our holiday.
