Salobre Hotel Resort & Serenity

The pools, spa, practice areas and clubhouse are all kept in fantastic shape, and our room was spotless and comfortable. We also ate really well throughout the resort, with plenty of choice and good quality. Both golf courses were in excellent condition and fun to play, with a good challenge in beautiful surroundings. Most of all, the staff make this place special. Yani and Autor were especially welcoming and attentive, and everyone seemed committed to making our stay lovely. This was our sixth visit to Salobre Hotel & Golf Resort, and it once again beat our expectations. It feels like a second home now, and we're already looking forward to coming back.

The rooms and food were fantastic, and the golf courses had a nice range of difficulty. The building work was the big problem: machines were pile-driving steel by the course all day, with a constant bang that put us off playing and gave me headaches. Our first room looked onto a roof and the site, and mosquitoes bit both of us badly that night. We complained and had to wait a day to be moved. They did move us, but weren't pleased about it. Some of the management weren't helpful either, and a smile now and then would have gone a long way.

We came as a couple to get away from everyday life, and the mountain setting was just right for a quiet break. We're not golfers, but enjoyed the views and being away from the busy beach resorts. There was some building work nearby, though it didn't bother us. We stayed in a Double deluxe room in the "Yuca" section. It was as advertised and very clean, like the rest of the hotel. The food was amazing, with a different theme at dinner, including Spanish, street food, Italian and Asian dishes. The staff were professional, polite and helpful without being intrusive. We also liked the restful sleep program, spa, gym, fitness classes, electric bicycle rentals, beach shuttle and shuttle to the nearby market. There are four pools, two of them public. Our favourite was the "sunset" pool, with warm water and 180° views of the mountains and ocean. There's also a "secret pool" if you can find it. We had a lovely, restful stay at "Salobre" and came home happy. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to relax.

The customer service fell a little short of the five-star setting, but there's plenty here that would bring me back. My triple deluxe room was roomy and comfortable, with beautiful views, and the breakfast buffet had so many delicious options. The spa, pools, dining and cocktails all made the stay feel luxurious. Don't miss the pastrami sandwich by the pool. Salobre Hotel Resort & Serenity has a lot of beauty and potential, and I'd return for the peaceful feel alone.
