We came in winter, but the outdoor pool in its beautiful setting should make summer even better. I believe there's an indoor pool as well. The grounds were spacious, peaceful and clean, with beach access and free bikes to use on the bike lanes just outside. Breakfast had enough choice, though we didn't try dinner at the parador. You'll need a car unless you plan to eat at the one restaurant or bar below.

A memorable spot with access to a private beach. It's just right for a restorative, wholesome holiday.

The rooms were very comfortable and came with sea views. Service was great, and the food was excellent, with traditional regional Spanish dishes.

The pool area is excellent, with an outdoor, smaller version of the main indoor restaurant where you can enjoy a good meal or drinks and sea views. Breakfast is a great buffet, as you expect at paradores, and you can borrow bikes for free to ride through the pine forests. The beach is right beside the hotel, though reaching it means tackling 189 steps, which can be tough on the way back up. It's an older hotel, but very well kept. You'll need a car because it's far from town, and going out for dinner means driving about 15 minutes. The town is seasonal and pretty dead in winter. This was my third visit, and I've enjoyed it every time.

The rooms were quiet and clean, but the facilities were poor and awkward to use. I've known Paradores for decades and even had my wedding reception at one, so I understand how they work. In April, the outdoor pool wasn't heated and was dirty, and parking cost extra despite there being loads of space. I wanted to use a bike, but they were junk, and the one I rode was dangerous. The indoor pool, sauna and other wellness centre facilities were closed. The gym meant going back and forth to reception and waiting in a queue while staff finished their conversation; I should have been able to get in with my room key. There's no lighting in the corridor to the gym either. Facilities were closed or made difficult to access: the tennis court was padlocked, and the room key didn't open the beach gate. The PIN needed an ENT command before and after. We ate there and the service was good. I know Paradores focus on Spanish gastronomy, but my burger was raw, completely raw. I've got a great photo. Nobody asked how I wanted it cooked, and it's a hamburger, not fillet steak. They fixed it, and it tasted great when cooked pink in the middle.
