Bavieca-Marimedrano 12

We stayed for several weeks and were looked after brilliantly the whole time. They were always checking in and taking care of the little details. The apartment is really comfortable, has everything for a short or long stay, and is very quiet. The beds are great too. The restaurant Bavieca is worth a visit as well. Everything is delicious, but the burger is unforgettable 😋. Thanks so much to Mario, Mónica, Heidi and the waiter from the trenza. We'll come back whenever we can.

We arrived at 3 pm, but the room still wasn't ready, even though it was meant to be ready at 2. We couldn't wait outside once it started snowing, so we checked in at 4 pm. The cleaner was still working while we were inside and didn't finish until around 5. The house was nice in some ways, but it wasn't functional. Neither of the bathrooms, one in each bedroom, worked properly: shower water spilled across the room, the drains were clogged, and one bathroom smelled awful. The heating wasn't working well either. We were freezing, especially in the bedrooms, where there was no heater, only one in the living room. We checked in at the restaurant, where the person serving us was unpleasant. When we raised the issue, we were told that's just how it was, which didn't seem like an appropriate response to a customer. The service and the house made this a very bad experience.

The village was a lovely surprise: tiny, with stone houses, some bearing coats of arms, and a pretty main square, church and Roman arch. There are also a few small rural hotels and restaurants. Getting there from the highway takes just 6 or 7 minutes. We stayed for one night in what they call a duplex, which is really a charming little country house. The living room and full kitchen are downstairs, with two bedrooms and en-suite bathrooms upstairs. It has a rustic look with modern touches, nice furniture, and TVs with Netflix. We arrived late and had dinner at their restaurant, where the set menu was very good at 20 euros. The waitress was incredibly friendly, attentive and helpful. The next morning we met Mario, the owner, who was very friendly too.

The hostel was great value for money. Getting in was the tricky part: we had to check ourselves in and scan our documents to activate the cards. They don't seem to realize that not everyone knows how to do that.
