Casa da Ponte de Penas

The hotel is gorgeous and so well designed. Kira, the young woman who served us cofffee, was incredibly kind and hospitable. We'll be back!

We liked the on-site restaurant, where the food was good and fairly priced, and they were very friendly with our dog. The hostel is new and modern, only two years old, and its quiet, nature-surrounded setting is ideal for the Camino. The rooms are very small, with hardly any room to walk around. It was also noisy: we could hear the neighbors and running water, even from the kitchen. At night, staff sat on the terrace just outside the rooms, chatting and watching videos on their phones. Breakfast was basic, and we had to ask at the bar even for simple things like orange juice. I'd come back, but I'd book away from the reception and kitchen side, where the terrace and kitchen noise are.

It's a beautiful place with nice people, and it's pet friendly. There's nowhere nearby to get food, so you're stuck eating there, and that does mean the food is a bit expensive.

The house and its surroundings are amazing. It’s brand new, so I’m sure it’ll get even better with time and experience. They still need to sort out a few things with the heating and summer ventilation. We’ll come back in winter.
