Aparthotel Beach Club

The beach is right by the hotel and fabulous, with something for everyone. Our apartment at the back of the complex had a stunning sea view. We found it clean and freshly painted, and the bed was comfortable. It looked as if refurbishment was underway, despite the room worries we'd picked up from reviews. The cleaning staff came every day and did a great job with beds, floors, towels, and toilet rolls. Thank you, fab service! The kitchen had enough basics, including a fridge with a small freezer compartment, kettle, coffee maker, two-ring hob, microwave, pans, frying pan, colander, and crockery. But there weren't enough cooking utensils. We only had a round spaghetti ladle, so bought a few of our own. We also bought two mugs. There was enough cutlery, plus a jug, tiny chopping board, bucket and mop, brush, dustpan, washing cloth and scourer. Washing-up liquid, shower gel, shampoo, and small hand soaps were provided. The balcony had four new chairs and a refurbished table. The bathroom was large, clean, and refurbished, with a shower, toilet, and basin. The bedroom needed more storage, as there were only 10 hangers. There were also two sofas that could be spare beds, two lounge chairs, a table, and four chairs. The big pool and its surrounding area were lovely, with a bar serving snacks and meals, though we didn't try it. Food was what let the hotel down: repetitive, bland, tasteless, and usually lukewarm unless freshly grilled. Desserts were disappointing too, mostly cubes of jelly, what looked like chocolate or strawberry blancmange, sometimes apple pie, cold rice pudding, melon, or ice cream that looked like it had been there a while. One night there was a chocolate fountain, different fruit, and profiteroles, which was a welcome change. The food was disappointing enough that we hired a car and ate elsewhere for half our stay, buying food at Lidls, Aldi, and other places, or going to restaurants. We understood that the staff may have been tired after a busy summer, but the restaurant staff could have made us feel more welcome by trying to smile. The host who greeted us and the reception staff were happy, pleasant, and helpful. Thank you to them. To see more of the island, we'd recommend hiring a car. We used Autos cars, from the sister parc. The one fee included everything except replacing the fuel we'd used. Most places have free parking, but check first. It's a beautiful island with stunning beaches, but we won't be hurrying back unless we want a completely relaxed beach holiday. We'd definitely go self-catering. On our transfer bus, we heard lots of negative comments about other places from fellow visitors, so check reviews, pictures, and recommendations thoroughly before spending your money.
