Ilunion Merida Palace

The hotel’s setting and atmosphere are unbeatable, and we had the best hotel stay we’ve ever had. You can walk to all the great historical places Meriyhas to offer, with great places to eat nearby. A must stay, probably the best in the city.

The room was comfortable, spacious, and well stocked. We stayed in the junior suite, and the staff were very nice, friendly, and accommodating. The hotel is in a perfect spot, with lots of attractions within walking distance. I’d highly recommend seeing The Roman Theatre.

The location is great and the service was good, but the air conditioning brought a horrible smell into the room. We turned it off and opened the windows, which got rid of the smell, but the hotel is on a plaza and it was noisy all night. When the noise got too much and we switched the AC back on, the musty smell returned. For a premium-priced hotel, that’s not acceptable.

The breakfast service was the real problem. I waited around 15-20 minutes to find anyone in the restaurant so I could ask for eggs. It was already 10:45, and nobody appeared until I knocked on the kitchen door and found only a pot washer. A waitress eventually came; I asked for an omelette and coffee, and she said yes. Another 15-20 minutes passed with nothing. When I checked again, she told me I’d have to pay because breakfast was closed. I explained I’d asked well before closing but had spent so long trying to find someone. She just looked at me and said, “Well, I have other things to do.” It was shocking and unacceptable, so I can only give one star for service. The hotel itself has an amazing location close to the main area, very big, spacious rooms, and a small swimming pool on the roof. The room’s only small downside was having no natural window, just one facing a closed court, which felt disappointing.
